JAMMU, May 26: Police foiled bovine smuggling bids and rescued 99 bovines animals by nabbing 17 smugglers in Poonch, Udhampur, RS Pura, Rajouri and Ramban areas of Jammu Province. The major bovine smuggling bid was foiled by Surankote police on Mughal Road, which connect Srinagar from Poonch and was recently opened for vehicular movement.
As per police sources, police teams from Surankote police station headed by DySP Surankote Reyaz Ahmed Tantray, SHO SI Zaheer Mushtaq and Incharge police post Behramgalla SI Amrit Katoch under the supervision of ASP Poonch Amit Gupta, SSP Poonch Jatinder Singh Johar and DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range laid different nakas on Mughal Road and intercepted 7 vehicles. During checking, police teams rescued 68 bovine animals from the clutches of smugglers which they were smuggle to Kashmir via Mughal Road. Besides rescuing bovines, police also arrested 10 smugglers and seized all the seven vehicles used for the crime. Four cases under FIR numbers 101/15, 102/15, 103/15 and 104/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act have been registered in police station Surankote and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police party from police station Udhampur led by SHO Inspector Mahesh Sharma under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Gaurav Mahajan, Additional SP Mohan Lal Kaith and SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary laid a surprise naka near Jakhani on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted three Tata Mobiles bearing registration numbers JK02AT-4552, JK02AJ-4666 and JK14B-0387. During checking, 19 bovine animals were rescued and three smugglers were arrested, who have been identified as Mohammad Kabir, son of Shah Jaman of Mahore, Jamal Din, son of Fazal Din of Gole Gujral Jammu and Muzaffar Hussain, son of Gulam Hussain. A case under FIR No. 178/2015 U/S 188/RPC, 3PCA stands registered at P/S Udhampur and investigation of the case going on.
RS Pura police led by SHO Chanden Kohli under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand rescued 7 bovines from a vehicle bearing registration number JK02U-0537 at Chohalla and arrested two persons. The accused have been identified as Surinder Singh, son of Bachan Singh of Musa Chack and Garu Ram, son of Thoru Ram of Ward Number 9, RS Pura. A case under FIR number 76/15 has been registered at police station RS Pura and investigation started.
Police team from Rajouri police station led by SHO Inspector Yashpaul Jamwal under the supervision of SSP Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal laid a naka at Muradpur and intercepted a Tata mobile bearing registration number JK11A 1398 which was driven by Mohammad Younis, son of Maqbool Husain, resident of Lah Thannamandi coming from Panjanara towards Rajouri. The driver speeds up the vehicle and was chased by police of Potha naka. At Dhangri near GREF Camp Rajouri, the driver crushed three goats of Wazir Hussain, son of Mohammad Amin, a resident of Channi Sunderbani. The police team stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver of the vehicle along with three bovine animals, which he was smuggling. In this connection case FIR No. 272 /15 U / S 279 / 429 / 188 RPC has been registered and further investigation is going.
On specific information, police party led by Incharge police post Jawahar Tunnel SI Mohammad Irfan under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar laid a special naka at Naugam and stopped an auto bearing registration number JK19-2513. During checking, 2 bovines were rescued and the driver of the vehicle identified as Umar Mazid, son of Abdul Mazid Beigh of Ashar Banihal District Ramban was arrested. A case under FIR number 69/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
