90th birth anniversary of Dalai Lama celebrated

NUBRA, July 6: To commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of the 14th Dalai Lama, the members of the Diskit Cultural and Welfare Society, Diskit Monastery and its benefactors organized a grand celebration, here today.
The deputy chief executive councillor, Tsering Angchok, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
To symbolize the long life and blessings of Dalai Lama, the monks of Diskit Monastery hoisted 113 prayer flags and also planted 113 apple trees.
Additionally, 113 artists adorned in traditional Ladakhi attire and they performed traditional dance.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest offered heartfelt prayers for the continued health and long life of His Holiness.
He emphasized the importance of nurturing pure thoughts, a kind heart and compassionate actions in everyday life.
Earlier, momentoes were also presented by deputy CEC to individuals who have rendered exceptional service to Nubra through their dedication, hard work and commitment.
The event was also attended by councillor of Hunder Constituency, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, monks from various monasteries of Nubra, Heads of Departments of the Nubra Sub-Division and others.
