9066 cases disposed of in National Lok Adalats across J&K

JAMMU, Dec 8: National Lok Adalats were held in all the courts across the State including both wings of the High Court of J&K today under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority and patronage of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice High Court of J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority.
Out of a total number of 13823 cases taken up in the day long Lok Adalat at various courts across the State, 9066 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 1,06,90,35,725 approximately was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in cases of various descriptions.
J&K High Court Legal Services Committee under the patronage of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice High Court of J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority and special guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey Judge High Court of J&K, Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee organized National Lok Adalats at both the wings of High Court Jammu and Srinagar.
Three benches were constituted at High Court Jammu and Srinagar. A total of 22 cases were settled and Rs 74,47,777 was awarded as compensation.
AKHNOOR: A National Lok Adalat was organized in the premises of Munsiff Court here under the chairmanship of Pooja Raina, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee. A bench was constituted which was comprised of Pooja Raina, Munsiff Akhnoor and Advocate VK Sharma. A total of 22 criminal, civil and miscellaneous cases were taken up, out of which 17 cases were disposed off. A fine of Rs 6000 has been realized on the spot.
SAMBA: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. Three benches were constituted during the Adalat. The first bench was headed by MK Sharma, Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba and assisted by SK Khanmotra, Advocate, while the second bench was headed by Ajay Gupta Sub Judge Samba and assisted by Kamiya Singh Andotra Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Sambe. The third bench comprised of Shabnam Sheikh, Munsiff Samba and Sumit Gupta Retainer Lawyer Samba. A total of 270 cases were taken up, out of which 206 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 1,07,14,852 was settled.
KATHUA: A National Lok Adalat was held here in the District Court complex under the chairmanship of Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Kathua. On the occasion, three benches were constituted. The first bench comprised of Sanjeev Gupta, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua and Aarti Mohan Secretary District Legal Services Authority, the second bench comprised of Sikander Azam Choudhary Additional District and Sessions Judge Kathua and Kusum Pandita, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua and the third bench comprised of Amit Sharma, Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua and Preet Simran Kour Munsiff JMIC Kathua. Lok Adalats were also held in Tehsil Legal Services Committees Hiranagar, Billawar, Basholi and Bani. A total of 358 cases were taken up, out of which 272 cases were disposed off. Compension of Rs 8176086 was awarded in MACT case and a recovery of Rs 5264410 was also made in favour of the banks. Compound money of Rs 137200 was also realized on the spot.
UDHAMPUR: A National Lok Adalat organized by District Legal Services Authority was held at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Sanjay Parihar, Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur. In the National Lok Adalat, 5 benches were constituted in the district. The first bench comprised of Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur Sanjay Parihar, CL Bavouria, Additional Session Judge Udhampur and Advocate BB Sharma, while the second bench comprised of BL Jaswal Sub Judge (CJM) Udhampur, Sandeep Kour Sub Judge Secretary District Legal Service Authority Udhampur and Advocate JD Slathia. The third bench comprised of Archana Charak and Vikram Kumar Tehsildar Ramnagar, while the fourth bench comprised of Ajay Kumar, District Mobile Magistrate Udhampur, Junaid Imtiaz Mir, Munsiff JMIC Udhampur and Advocate Pankaj Mangotra and the fifth bench comprised of Anjana Rajput, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, In- charge Munsiff Majalta and Advocate Mohan Lal Gupta. A total of 599 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 492 cases were settled on the spot. An amount of Rs 64,30,000 was awarded as compensation in MACT cases while a total of Rs 19,99,000 was realized in various bank cases. Besides, fine amounting Rs 6,02,140 was realized in respect of various criminal compoundable cases.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi organized National Lok Adalat. Three benches were constituted during the Adalat. The first bench comprised of Kamlesh Pandit District Judge Reasi and assisted by Anjum Ara, Sub Judge, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Reasi, the second bench comprised of VS Manhas, Sub Judge, CJM Reasi and assisted by Rimpi Rani, Munsiff Reasi and the third bench comprised of Sandeep Gandotra Sub-Judge Katra and assisted by DK Kapoor Advocate. In National Lok Adalat, 400 cases of different nature were taken up and 143 cases were settled and settlement amount of Rs 7954786.00 was awarded.
RAMBAN: National Lok Adalat was organised across Ramban district under the supervision of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ramban, District, Principal and Sessions Judge, Ramban, Kikar Singh Parihar. Besides District Court Complex, Ramban such Adalats were also organised at Banihal, Gool and Batote under the concerned chairman of Tehsil Legal Service Committee. As many as 1220 cases were taken in all these courts by the various benches constituted for the purpose and out of these about 500 cases were disposed off. In 3 bank cases an amount of Rs 3, 000,00 was awarded, in one electricity case Rs 5,300 was awarded, in Motor Accident Claims Tribunal 5 cases Rs 15, 0000 were awarded, in 450 cases of Municipality and Traffic Chalans an amount of Rs 1, 09,600 was awarded and in the 10 matrimonial cases an amount of Rs 26,29,400 was sanctioned as settlement amount.
RAJOURI: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge. On the occasion, four benches were constituted. The first bench was headed by Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajouri and was assisted by Rajesh Sharma, Advocate, the second bench was headed by Riaz Ul Haq Mirza CJM Rajouri and was assisted by MH Mirza Advocate, the third bench was headed by Vinod Kumar, Special Mobile Magistrate Rajouri and was assisted by KM Bhat Advocate and the fourth bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and was assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary Advocate. Similar benches were also constituted at Tehsil levels, which were headed by the presiding officers of the respective courts. A total of 619 cases were taken up, out of which 505 cases were disposed off. 8 MACT cases were also settled.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat under held in District Courts complex here under the chairmanship of Zabair Ahmed Raza Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch. On the occasion, two benches were constituted. The first bench was presided over by Zabair Ahmad Raza Principal Distt and Sessions Judge Poonch and was assisted by Som Lal Sub-Judge/Special Mobile Magistrate Poonch and the second bench was presided over by Mohammad Ashraf Khan CJM Poonch and was assisted by Lal Hussain Mushtaq Advocate. At Surankote, the bench was presided over by Ashan-ul-Haq Malik Sub-Judge and was assisted by Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote and at Mendhar, the bench was presided over by Choudhary Riaz Ahmad Munsiff JMIC and was assisted by Advocate Shafiq Ahmed Khatana. A total of 515 cases were taken up, out of which 357 cases were settled and amount of Rs 5969200 was also settled.
SRINAGAR: The National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar under the chairmanship of Principal and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Malik at District Court complex, Moominabad. On the occasion nine benches, which were constituted for taking different types, took up 1941 cases out of which 1613 were amicably settled on the spot. Rs 92.96 lakhs were awarded as compensation by MACT Srinagar, Rs 6.58 lakhs were collected as settlement amount by different courts, besides collecting a fine of Rs 2,59,450 on the occasion.
BANDIPORA: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised National Lok Adalat in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Session Judge Syed Sarfaraz Hussain Shah. A total of 148 cases were taken up, out of which 60 cases were settled amicably and a settlement amount of Rs 25.58 lakh was awarded in various cases. Three separate benches were established in Bandipora while one bench was constituted at Sumbal during the Adalat. The first bench was headed by Principal District and Session Judge Syed Sarfaraz Hussain Shah while the second bench was headed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora Raja Mohammad Tasleem. The third bench was headed by Chairman TLSC Munsiff JMIC Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon while the fourth bench was constituted at Munsiff Court Sumbal presided over by Manzoor Hussain Choudhary, Chairman TLSC Munsiff Sumbal.
BUDGAM: The National Lok Adalat was held at District Court complex here and its subordinate courts today wherein cases pertaining to different matters were taken up including pre-litigation. In the Adalat, maximum cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 2,334,000 was recovered for bank cases and an amount of Rs 91,000 was recovered against electricity bills from consumers.
ANANTNAG: The National Lok Adalat was organized by the District Legal Services Authority Anantnag at District Court complex here. Six Benches were constituted for holding of the said National Lok Adalat, all over the district, under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge Anantnag, Syed Tawqeer Ahmad, who is also the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Anantnag. Out of 157 cases, a total settlement amount of Rs 99,19,966 was awarded in favour of 66 amicably settled cases.
SHOPIAN: The National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of district court complex here under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Shopian Ashok Kumar Shavana Principal District and Sessions Judge Shopian. During the proceedings, ten benches were constituted for taking up cases of matrimonial act, land acquisition, criminal compound able, electricity bills, bank recovery etc. 419 cases of different nature including pre-litigation were taken up, out of which 267 cases were settled by mediation and reconciliation. An amount of Rs 96225 has been recovered as fine and same has been deposited in Government treasury. Rs 4851000 were realized from defaulters in bank recovery cases.
PULWAMA: The National Lok Adalat was held at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Principal and Session Judge Mohammad Ibrahim Chairman District Legal Services Authority Pulwama. During the Lok Adalat, 226 pre and post litigation cases pertaining to criminal compoundable offence, NI Act, electricity bills, water bills Cases under-section 138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labor Disputes and others were taken up, out of which 103 cases were settled amicably.
KARGIL: The National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex, here. The Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of the Chairman District Legal Services Authority and Principal District and Session Judge Kargil, Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat. During the proceedings of the Lok Adalat, two benches were constituted. The benches were presided over by the Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Principal District and Sessions Judge Kargil Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat and Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate Sankoo Muneer Ahmad respectively. The cases listed in the Lok Adalat were of different matters. 207 cases were taken up for hearing, out of which 182 cases were disposed off. Moreover, a sum of Rs 15,51,725 was awarded to the concerned parties, besides a sum of Rs 23,200 was also recovered as fine.
KULGAM: The National Lok Adalat was organised in District Court complex here, under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Kulgam (Principal District and Sessions Judge). Four benches were constituted, two at head quarter and one each at Qazigund and DH Pora. In the National Lok Adalat, 305 cases were taken up out of which 151 cases were amicably settled and an award of Rs 2196578 was passed in favour of victims in MACT, and other cases. During the Lok Adalat different cases of electricity bills, water bills, etc were also taken up in the National Lok Adalat and Rs 2196578 imposed as fine in criminal RPC chalan and traffic challans.
GANDERBAL: The National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court complex here under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge Mohammed Yousuf Wani, who is also the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal. Three benches were constituted two at District Court Complex Ganderbal and one at Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan. All the benches were headed by judicial officers, advocates and staff members. In the Lok Adalat, 451 cases were taken up out of which 224 cases were amicably settled and settlement amount of Rs 45,31,200 was released.
BARAMULLA: The National Lok Adalats were held today across the district under the chairmanship of Princpal Districts and Sessions Judge, Baramulla Rajesh Sekhri. The main function was held at District Court complex Baramulla where three benches were established. 321 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat at Baramulla, out of which 86 cases were settled amicably on the spot besides Rs 83,05,655 was realized as settlement amount.
SOPORE: The National Lok Adalat was organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sopore in court complex here which comprised of three different benches. 355 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat and 288 cases were settled amicably on the spot besides Rs 52,35,812 was realized as settlement amount.
URI: The National lok Adalat was organized by Tehsil Legal Services Authority Uri under the chairmanship of Sub-judge Uri Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, who is also the chairman Tehsil legal Services authority. 691 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat and 590 cases were settled amicably on the spot besides Rs 50,83,823 was realized as settlement amount.
