JAMMU, Jan 18: BJP Member Surinder Mohan Ambardar today alleged that more than 90 kanals of land of Kashmiri Pandit families has been grabbed by land mafia at Bota Bagh, Mughal Mohalla and Lal Bazaar in Srinagar and the Government has taken no steps to retrieve the same.
Inviting the attention of the Government through Calling Attention Notice in the Legislative Council today, the BJP Member regretted that only four cases have been mentioned by the Government in its reply while he had list of 36 such cases where land of the Kashmiri Pandits in exile has been grabbed by the land mafia. He also presented the list to the Chairman of the House, Haji Anayat Ali.
Minister for Agriculture Production, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura while responding to the notice said that a team of officers under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Srinagar has been constituted for on spot demarcation of allegedly encroached land in twin villages of Zoonimar and Sadrabal near Srinagar.
The Minister also presented the details of land, names of owners and other details furnished by the team. He told that as per revenue record total 81 kanal and 7 marla land was there pertaining to Prithvi Nath, Rajesnder Parsad, Rama Rania and Vasantha Kumari Raina.
The Minister further informed that some parties have given power of attorney to local persons for land measuring 50 Kanals, 07 kanals.
“The subject case has been heard by the District Magistrate Srinagar and he has passed an order to constitute a team comprising Tehsildar North and Tehsildar Eidgah to demarcate the land for which attorney holders have been authorized,” he said.
The Minister assured that excess land, if any occupied by the attorney holder shall be evicted, restored and kept under the safe custody by the Tehsildar concerned on behalf of the District Magistrate. The Member also pressed for setting up of House Committee but the Chairman rejected his plea.
