BANGALORE, Aug 30:
Nine terrorists, including a Journalist, were arrested in the city and Hubli jointly by a Special team of Police from Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka CCB Police.
All the arrested belonged to Indian Mujahiddin and were suspected to be involved in bomb blast at M Chinnaswamy Cricket stadium here and in provoking recent violence in Assam.
Police said here today a police team from Uttar Pradesh, which had arrived on definite clues that terrorists belonging to Indian Mujahiddin were in Karnataka, succeeded in nabbing four of them from Bangalore and five from Hubli, about 450 km from here.
According to reports appearing in press here, Muthiur Rahman Siddiqui, a journalist working in a leading English Daily, Mohammed Yunus, Riaz, Shoaib and Ijaz, who were staying in a rented flat, have been picked up by the UP team and handed over to Bangalore police yesterday.
At Hubli, CCB police from Bangalore raided a house in Keshwapur area and arrested Imran Bahaduri, Dr Zakir Husain Sekh, Wahid Hussain Kanakkanavara and Jaffer Iqbal Sollapuri.
All the arrested were taken to a secret place for questioning.
However, police refused to divulge details stating that still investigation was going on and there were chances of nabbing many more shortly.
The UP Police had formed two teams—one was sent to Karnataka and another to West Bengal last week. (UNI)
