POONCH, Dec 24: Nine persons were injured, two of them seriously when a Tata sumo which was on its way to Poonch from Sagra in Mendhar skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Magnad here this morning.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place at around 10.30 am when the ill-fated vehicle, bearing registration No. JK-12/6823 which was on way to Poonch from Sagra skidded off the road and fell into a nallah. All the nine occupants including driver were injured.
They were rescued by police and locals of the area and then shifted to Poonch hospital. Two of them were later shifted to Jammu. The injured were identified as Ruksana Kouser from Achhad, Ghulam Fareed from Mankote, Mohd Razak from Sagra, Shahen Akhtar from Krishna Ghati, Mohd Nazir and Showkat Hussain from Mendhar, Mohd Mukhtar, Shahid Shakeel and Shah Din from Sagra. Th police has registered a case in this connection.
