9 die, 1151 test +ve for COVID in J&K

111 fresh cases in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Feb 6: Nine persons died of COVID-19 and 1151 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today while 111 fresh cases were reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Five casualties and 511 cases were registered in Jammu while four fatalities and 640 positives were recorded in Kashmir division.
A 50-year-old woman from village Changi Kangryal in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 at home. A 55-year-old man from Fatehpur in Darhal tehsil of Rajouri, who had no ailments, succumbed to the virus at the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.
A 65-year-old man from Ward No. 7 in Poonch district, who too had no co-morbidities, died of Coronavirus at home.
A 72-year-old woman hailing from Kudhar Kastigarh in Doda and 75-year-old man from Assar Doda but presently putting up at Bidda in Reasi district died of multiple ailments and virus in the GMC Doda and GMC Jammu respectively.
Barring Kastigarh Doda woman, all four COVID victims were fully vaccinated.
Five casualties have taken Corona toll in Jammu division to 2307.
Jammu region reported 511 new cases including 168 in Jammu district, 117 Doda, 63 Udhampur, 52 Reasi, 36 Ramban, 32 Kathua, 25 Samba, 11 Rajouri, six Poonch and one in Kishtwar district.
Among 52 positives in Reasi, 38 were pilgrims of holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, who tested positive on their arrival at Katra Railway Station.
As against 511 cases, 1378 persons recovered from the virus bringing down number of active positive cases to 5698.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 111 fresh COVID positive cases including 54 in Leh and 57 in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 1025 active positive cases—586 in Leh and 439 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, the third wave of COVID-19 has ebbed with 640 people testing positive for the viral infection in Kashmir today while four infected people succumbed.
Four people who were comorbid succumbed to the viral infection today in the Valley including three from Budgam and one from Bandipora. With the fresh deaths the death toll in J&K has gone to 4715 including 2408 in Kashmir.
Those who tested positive today in Kashmir are 197 from Srinagar, Baramulla 54, Budgam 116, Pulwama 38, Kupwara 62, Anantnag 63, Bandipora 22, Ganderbal 28, Kulgam 48 and Shopian 12.
Besides, 4393 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time including 3015 from Kashmir. So far, 424521 people have recovered, leaving the active case tally at 17412 including 11714 in Kashmir.
