UDHAMPUR, Nov 23: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling at Battal Ballian and rescued nine bovine animals besides arresting the alleged smuggler.
Police team of PP Battal Ballian intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14H-2874 near Factory Chowk Battal Ballian, Udhampur. During checking, nine bovines were found cruelly packed in the vehicle without any valid permission. All the bovines were rescued and the accused driver was arrested on the spot.
The arrested driver was identified as Mohd Latief, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Badhota, Tehsil Pancheri, District Udhampur.
In this regard, FIR No. 402/2025 U/S 223 BNS and 11 PCA has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
