9 bovines rescued, 2 vehicles seized

KATHUA, Sept 21: In continuation to thwart the conspiracies of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today foiled bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station(PS), Rajbagh, rescued nine more bovines and seized two vehicles involved in the smuggling of animals.
Police said today it was learnt that one Mahindra vehicle bearing Registration Number JK08D-4980 was enrouted from Kathua towards Jammu via link road Bhagwal Channi in which few bovines were tied in illegal manner. Acting on the same police team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra , SHO, Police Station (PS) Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan laid a naka at Bhagwal road. On seeing naka party driver of the vehicle parked the vehicle far behind the naka point and managed to fled away. During checking of the vehicle five bovines were found loaded in it illegally.
The police team rescued five bovines and seized the vehicle involved. A case FIR No. 189/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA has been registered at Police Station, Rajbagh and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
While in another instance, acting on reliable information that one more Mahindra vehicle without any registration number was coming from Kathua towards Jammu via Chawaki Morh Chadwal. A police team led by Incharge Police Post Marheen during naka duty at Chawaki Morh Chadwal noticed said vehicle. Sensing danger driver of the vehicle parked it few meters away from naka point and managed to fled away from the spot by taking the advantage of darkness.
During the checking police team was able to found four more bovines which were tied with ropes in mercilessly manner. Thereafter all the four bovines were rescued and seized the vehicle involved.
A case vide FIR No. 190/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation is underway.
