JAMMU, Oct 9: Police today arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued nine milch animals in two different incidents.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Chanderkote Police Station laid a naka at Jammu-Srinagar national highway and intercepted a Srinagar bound Tata mobile bearing registration number JKO2AG 0877.
During checking, police recovered four milch animals and arrested bovine smuggler Mohd Parvez, son of Mohd Bashir of Khanpur, Nagrota.
A case under FIR number 56/12 has been registered at Chanderkote Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police party from Lakhanpur Police Station laid a naka at Maggar Khad and intercepted Punjab bound Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JKO2AA 8326. During checking, police recovered five milch animals, however, on seeing police movement, the driver fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
A case under FIR number 84/12 has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and manhunt was launched to arrest the bovine smuggler.
