JAMMU, Feb 7: Police today arrested five smugglers arrested and rescued nine bovine animals from their possession at Jakhni.
As per the police, police party of P/S Udhmapur led by Inspector, Vijay Singh Choudhary under the supervision of DYSP Udhmapur, Dr Rohit Chadgal, Additional SP Udhampur, Rajinder Singh Katoch laid a naka for checking of vehicles at National Highway, Jakhni.
During the checking, police party intercepted two TATA Mobiles bearing registration number, JK06A-3328 and JK14F-7456 were found loaded with bovine without any valid permission.
The accused identified as Shamim Ahmed, S/o Ghulam Mohammed of Doda, Surjeet Singh, S/o Dharam Singh of Doda, Latif Mohd S/o Mohd Din of Thalpar, Mustaq Ahmed S/o Bittu of Kanah, Ramnagar, and Mohd Younus, S/o Noor Baqsh of Thalpar were arrested on the spot.
In this regar two cases FIR No: 64/20 U/S 188 IPC, 03PCA Act and 66/20 U/S 188, 03 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the cases are going on.
