83 bovine animals rescued, six smugglers arrested

JAMMU, June 28: Foiling various attempts of bovine smuggling in Reasi and Udhampur districts, Police rescued 83 animals and arrested six smugglers.
Udhampur Police rescued 59 animals from the clutches of bovine smugglers while foiling bovine smuggling bids in Chenani area and arrested two smugglers.
These bovine animals were being smuggled in three trucks, which were intercepted by a Police party PS Chenani, headed by SHO Om Parkash, during a naka at Zero Point, Motor Shed Chenani. During checking, 59 bovine animals were found loaded in these three trucks, bearing registration number JK02AR- 8377, JK03D-9710 and JK21-1281.
Police arrested drivers of two trucks, identified as Ashiq Hussain, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of District Kulgam and Jagdev Singh, son of Jageer Singh of Shahpur while the third driver managed to flee from the spot. Three FIRs bearing under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act were registered in this connection at Police Station.
In Reasi, Police arrested four bovine smugglers and rescued 24 animals from their possession.
Team of Police Station Mahore, led by SHO Karnail Singh, laid surprise nakas and foiled three attempts of bovines smuggling in a night long operation. 24 bovines were rescued from these bovine smugglers, who were arrested and identified as Mohd Iqbal, son of Qadar Baksh of Shikari tehsil Mahore, Shoket Ali son of Abdulla of Shikari, Noor Mohd son of Qadar Baksh of Shikari and Mohd Akram son of Nazir Hussain of Shikari.
