82 % candidates turn up for KAS Preliminary

JAMMU, Aug 5: Out of 18257 candidates, around 82 per cent candidates turned up for the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination conducted by Public Service Commission.
The test was conducted at 29 centres across the State for a total of 65 Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) posts.
Out of total 18,257 applications, 82 per cent candidates appeared in the examination at 29 centers across the State—11 in Srinagar and 18 in Jammu”, official sources said.
Two tests were conducted today—General Studies in the morning shift and Optional in the evening session.
“It is must for the candidate to appear in the General Studies paper whereas in the optional, a candidate has to choose one subject out of total 22 subjects”, sources added.
From Jammu, nearly 10,000 applications and from Srinagar, around 8000 applications were received for the examination.
“An official from General Administrative Department (GAD), Chief Supervisor, Supervisor, two employees of Public Service Commission and Principal of the respective educational institutions were the invigilators”, sources said, adding the test was conducted smoothly across the State and no incident of unfair means was reported.
The final examination for the 65 KAS posts will be held in January or February next year, sources said. It is pertinent to mention here that PSC is conducting the KAS examination on annual basis during the past three years.
