8140 spots restored post 2014 floods

SRINAGAR, June 8: Government today said it has restored eight thousand one hundred and fourty spots temporarily and permanently damaged during September 2014 floods in Jammu and Kashmir regions.
In a written reply to a question of MLC Dharambir Singh, the Minister Incharge Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, said after the devastating flood of September 2014 in Kashmir and Jammu regions, the department took measures on war footing basis to restore the damaged spots of river/ localities which were submerged.
“The department executed these works both under temporary as well as permanent restoration. Under temporary restoration, 3432 spots have been restored at an estimated cost of Rs. 175.08 crore by Irrigation and Flood Control Divisions in Kashmir Division,” the Minister said. He said under permanent restoration, 1078 spots have been restored at an estimated cost of Rs. 93.52 crore.
In Jammu region, the Minister said under SDRF, 2586 spots have been restored at an estimated cost of Rs. 165.06 crore by the Irrigation and Flood Control Divisions. He said under permanent restoration 1044 number of spots have been restored at an estimated cost of Rs. 67.04 crore.
