JAMMU, Feb 13: National Lok Adalats for bank recovery suits and cases were held across the State.
The National Lok Adalats were held under the patronage of Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge, High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
A total of 813 cases were disposed off in the National Lok Adalats and an amount of Rs 7.98 crore was recovered in bank recovery suits.
At High Court wing Jammu, National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice of J&K High Court and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority in presence of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Executive Chairman, J&K SLSA, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee and Justice Tashi Rabstan.
On the occasion, Justice Magrey briefed about the objective of National Lok Adalat.
Later, Chief Justice and Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee also inspected the Lok Adalat benches at District Court Complex Jammu. He was accompanied by Registrar General MK Hanjura, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice, MY Akhoon, Member Secretary, J&K State Legal Services Authority RN Wattal and Registrar Judicial Sanjay Parihar.
SRINAGAR: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex Sannat Ghar Bemina under the supervision of Second Additional District and Sessions Judge Srinagar where seven cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 9.1 lakh was recovered in various bank cases and an amount of Rs 7.10 lakh was settled in cases under section 138 N I Act.
A National Lok Adalat was organised in District Court Complex, Jammu under the chairmanship of Sanjay Gupta, Chairman, District Legal Service Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge. Two benches were constituted for conducting the Adalat. The first bench comprised of Ashok Kumar, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases, Jammu and Abnoop Kumar, Speical Railway Magistrate Jammu. The second bench comprised of YP Sharma, Special Excise Magistrate Jammu and Vinod Kumar, Special Electricity Magistrate Jammu. A total of 74 cases were settled in the Adalat and an amount of Rs 24,516,291 was awarded/recovered.
DODA: National Lok Adalat was organized by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Doda in Court complex here. During the Lok Adalat, a bench was constituted which consisted of Chief Judicial Magistrate (Chairman TLSC Doda), OP Thakur and Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Doda, Arun Kotwal. 19 pre-litigation Bank cases were taken up, out of which 13 cases were decided and an award of Rs 4,31,519 was passed besides an amount of Rs 5000 was also recovered on spot. 4 cases pertaining to SBI Doda and 9 cases pertaining to SBI Assar were settled amicably.
RAJOURI: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge. During the Adalat, two benches were constituted, which comprised of Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Mehmood Ahmed Choudhary, Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajouri, Khalil Ahmed Choudhary, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajouri and Sunil Sangra, Speical Mobile Magistrate Rajouri. A total of 31 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 14,04 612 was settled.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of KS Parihar, Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Sercices Authority organised National Lok Adalay. Three benches were constituted, which comprised of KS Parihar, Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Sercices Authority, Anjan Rajput, Additional Mobile Magsitrate, Kamlesh Pandita, CJM, Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff, Sandeep Gandotra, Sub Judge Katra and Mayank Gupta, JMIC. A total of 41 cases were settled and settlement amount of Rs 58,93,050 was awarded.
UDHAMPUR: National Lok Adalat was held here. Three benches comprised of Sonia Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Geeta Kumari, Additioal Speical Mobile Magistrate, Renu Dogra, Sub Judge Ramnagar, Sudesh Kumar, Advocate, Touseef Ahmed Magray, Munsiff and Mohan Lal Gupta, Advocate. 90 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 33,17,840 was settled.
NOWSHERA: National Lok Adalat was held in Court Complex, here under the chairmanship of Sandeep Kour, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Nowshera and was assisted by Advocate Ratan Singh. Three cases were settled and an amount of Rs 76,112 was settled.
SAMBA: National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of ML Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Committee. A bench was constituted, which comprised of ML Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Committee, Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Sub Judge, SK Khanmotra, Advocate SK Khanmotra, Retainer Lawyer Deepak Sharma. A total of 150 cases were taken up, out of which 54 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 40,35,218 was settled.
KATHUA: National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Sanjay Dhar, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua. Three benches were constituted, which comprised of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua Deepak Sethi, Advocate Mandeep Singh, Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua, Naushad Ahmed Khan, Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma, District Mobile Magistrate Kathua, Dinesh Gupta and Advocate Sourav Mahajan. A total of 222 cases were taken up out of which 87 cases were disposed of amicably and total settlement amount of Rs 69,68,700 was recovered.
BANDIPORA: National Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Bandipora. A total of 124 cases were settled amicably. Settlement amount of Rs 2.20 lakh was awarded besides fine of Rs 13,500 was recovered under various cases. Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora and Munsif Bandipora assisted the cases at Court Complex Bandipora while as Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sumbal chaired the National LoK Adalat at Court Complex Sumbal.
KUPWARA: Legal Services Authority conducted the five-benched National Lok Adalat in which 161 cases were taken up and 35 cases were amicably settled. During the Lok Adalat, settlement amount of Rs 43.11 lakh was realized. Lok Adalats were also held at Handwara, Tanghdar and Sogam.
