REASI, Mar 3: Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Reasi Rajesh Gupta along with his team conducted two day extensive checking tour on Katra-Jammu and Reasi-Dharmari-Thuroo area.
He stated that following complaints received from general public regarding overcharging of fare, overloading in these routes MVD Reasi laid a special Naka.
He emphasized that the special focus is on installation of Speed Limit Devices, overloading as well as overcharging in passenger vehicles.
During the inspection, the ARTO enquired from the passengers about the fare being charged. He also assured the public that strict action will be initiated against the violators as per the norms of the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the extensive checking, the team checked 150 vehicles out of which 81 vehicles were challaned /Compound and 72500 as fine was recovered on spot.
The ARTO sensitised drivers about to maintain the proper documents of their vehicles and appealed them to follow the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as safety of others.
