JAMMU, July 4: Agitating traders of Ware House & Nehru Market today claimed that 80 % stock in Ware House dried and they are not able to continue the supply line of essential commodities in the State, specially Jammu Division and this is because of non-implementation of GST in the State.
Traders of Ware House and Nehru Market, Jammu strongly supported introduction of GST in the State as early as possible for the smooth running of business and requested the Chief Minister to implement GST in the shortest possible time.

Today, the traders once again staged a protest dharna under the banner of Traders Federation, Ware House/Nehru Market, for implementation of GST in the State, which was led by the president of Traders’ Federation Rajesh Gupta and general secretary, Deepak Gupta along with other office bearers.
Addressing the protesting Federation members, Rajesh Gupta said, “We are running out of stock as essential items like sugar, pulses and oil etc and it will create lot of problems to the consumers thereof as balance stock will not cater their need more than 2 to 3 days.”
He further said that almost all the commodities are exhausting in the wholesale food grain Mandi and State Government is straightway responsible for this shortage.
Deepak Gupta said, ” This failure of J&K Government has created a lot of confusion and chaos among the business community as traders are not able to import the goods because their GST numbers are still invalid and they cannot import the goods without the GST number.”
He said the situation will lead to acute shortage of essential commodities and certainly there will be a prize hike of all the essential commodities. He claimed that GST will definitely help doing business in much more comfortable way and Jammu Traders also want ‘One Nation, One Tax’. Gupta requested the Government to abolish Toll Tax when GST is implemented in the State so that goods may not get costlier.
Other office bearers of the Federation were also accompanying the protest.
