JAMMU, May 17: An eight-year-old boy today died of drowning in a canal in Bagh-e-Bahu area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, a male child namely Zia Rehman (8) son of Noor Hussain, resident of Bathindi, along with other children was taking bath while sitting on the bank of a canal in Bagh-e-Bahu area when one of his feet got slipped and he fell down into the canal.
The official said as the boy did not know swimming, he drowned in the canal. Later, his body was evicted from the canal and after completion of medico-legal formalities, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
