8 women workers in beer company turn unconscious

SAMBA, May 8: Eight women workers of Dewan Modern Beverages, Beer Manufacturing Company in Phase 2 of Samba Industrial Area were admitted to the District Hospital of Samba after complaining of uneasiness and unconsciousness today.
Before complaining of headache, nausea and vomiting, the women workers were cleaning empty bottles in the factory when suddenly the condition of one woman worsened after which she turned faint. In a hurry, all the women were brought to the District Hospital Samba, where all of them are undergoing treatment.

The 8 women have been identified as Babli, Rajni Devi, Poonam Devi, Ritu Devi, Janaki Devi, Shakuntala Devi, Reema Devi and Reena Devi.
The incident took place at Dewan Modern Beer Factory in Samba Phase at around 10 am on Sunday. So many women and other workers were present at the factory and investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the incident. Police have started further proceedings after taking cognizance of the matter.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta visited the factory after taking stock of the situation there and also visited the District Hospital Samba to know the the condition of women patients. After the incident, the members of the FSL team also went to the factory and collected samples for investigation. Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta said that a committee has been constituted under the Tehsildar Samba for investigation, which will soon submit its report.
