JAMMU, July 6: Police today arrested eight gamblers along with around Rs 10,000 stake money from Udham Singh Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Digiana police post.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Digiana police post conducted a raid in Udham Singh Nagar and arrested eight gamblers along with Rs 9,500 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Kuldeep Singh, son of Udham Singh of Udham Singh Nagar, Parveen Kumar, son of Shankar Prasad of Bihar, at present Rani Talab, Digiana, Dalbir Singh, son of Hardeep Singh of Model Town Digiana, Jagdish Kumar, son of Subash Kumar of Donichand Mohalla, Digiana, Kapil Sham, son of Kartik Sham of Bihar, at present Rani Talab, Digiana, Ashwani Kumar, son of Janak Raj of Model Town Digiana, Shankar Singh, son of Tarsem Lal of Roop Nagar Digiana and Charanjeet Singh, son of Mohinder Singh of Model Town Digiana.
A case under Gambling Act has been registered at Digiana police post and investigation started.
Police team headed by incharge police post Digiana SI Ashok Bazaz made the arrests under the direct supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar police station SI Manzoor Kohli, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SP South Rahul Malik.
