44 prisoners among 290 test COVID +ve

SRINAGAR, July 14: Eight COVID-19 people died in Kashmir taking the number of such deaths in Jammu and Kashmir to 195 while 44 inmates from Central Jail Anantnag and at least 23 from paramilitary security forces were among 290 Novel Coronavirus cases in Kashmir today taking the overall tally of COVID-19 patients to 11173 in J&K.
A 60-year-old man from Tangmarg area of Baramulla district died at SKIMS hospital here this afternoon. He was suffering from bilateral community acquired pneumonia (CAP) with ARDS with BHP. He was admitted in the medical emergency on July 13 as a suspected case. His sample was taken on the same day and he expired this afternoon.
A 35-year-old paramilitary CRPF man from 66th Battalion Baramulla tested positive for the COVID-19, a day after his death. A resident of Nowshera Rajouri, he was suffering from high fever and pneumonia and died at SMHS hospital.
Two women, both aged 60-years, from Semthan Kulgam and Anantnag respectively died at GMC Anantnag on July 10 and their bodies were handed over to the families as per the new protocol. Their samples tested positive last night.
A 65-year-old COVID-19 patient from Shopian district died at SKIMS Bemina hospital here today. He was admitted to the hospital on July 10. He already had Coronary bypass surgery and was also suffering from pneumonia.
A 60-year-old COVID-19 patient from Nadihal area of Baramulla district died at SKIMS Soura, nine days after he was admitted to the hospital. He was a case of HTN, T2DM, CKD, ESRD, bilateral community acquired pneumonia.
With these deaths, 177 COVID-19 positive people in Kashmir and 18 in Jammu have died so far.
Srinagar district with 46 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 37, Kulgam 22, Shopian 17, Anantnag 15, Budgam 14, eleven Kupwara, Pulwama 6, Bandipora 3 and Ganderbal 4.

Srinagar reported 127, Anantnag 58, Pulwama 39, Bandipora 16, Budgam 14, eleven each in Baramulla and Shopian, Kulgam 7, Ganderbal 4 and three in Kupwara.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 2424 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital today and 117 tested positive for the virus.
He said 34 are from Srinagar, 18 from Anantnag, 16 from Pulwama, 10 from Budgam, nine from Baramulla, eight each from SSB/CRPF and Kulgam, seven from Bandipora, two each from Kupwara and Ganderbal besides one each from Shopian, Kargil and Banihal.
The cases from CRPF include seven from SSB SICC Srinagar and one from CRPF 178 Batallion Shopian.
Principal SKIMS Bemina Dr Riyaz Untoo, said that out of 540 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 48 tested positive for COVID-19, all from Srinagar.
An official said that 125 tested positive at CD hospital today.
And 100 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir.
