UDHAMPUR, Jan 30: Police foiled a bovine smuggling attempt at Tikri and rescued eight bovine animals.
A police party of PP Tikri signalled a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14K-2336, coming from Jammu towards Srinagar, to stop for checking at Tikri naka point. However, the driver did not respond and sped away the vehicle, which was chased by Police team. Soon after the driver abandoned the vehicle on road and escaped on foot.
During checking, eight bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle in a cruel manner and tied with ropes. Police rescued the bovines and seized the vehicle, Accordingly, a case FIR No. 20/2026 under Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
