UDHAMPUR, Apr 9: Foiling an attempt of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police rescued eight animals which were packed underneath a compartment in Tipper filled with bricks.
The Tipper, bearing registration number JK02P-9106, was intercepted by a Police party of PP Roundomail, led by SI Akhilesh, IC PP Roundomail Udhampur, during surprise naka at Dhar road area.
Even as the smugglers managed to escape leaving the vehicle, all the eight bovine animals were rescued. Police has registered a case in this connection under relevant sections of law at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
