POONCH, Aug 11: Nearly 750 Shri Budha Amarnath pilgrims who had been stranded due to curfew restrictions in various parts enroute and bandh in the town here were sent back to Jammu under police protection this evening.
An official spokesman said that passengers in 26 buses and about a dozen light vehicles had been stranded at Poonch after performing Darshan in the morning and last evening at the shrine at Mandi. They were not allowed back to Jammu due to bandh and communal tension all over. However, the District Administration Poonch today send these stranded passengers under police protection from Poonch at around 4.30 pm. From Rajouri onwards another police protection party will lead these buses up to Jammu. Due to curfew restrictions no yatra buses could leave for Poonch today from Jammu, the spokesman added.
