UDHAMPUR, Dec 1: Continuing its drive against narcotics and psychotropic substances, Police today apprehended a drug peddler from Chenani area and seized 75 kg of poppy straw from the smuggler.
The contraband was being smuggled in a truck, bearing registration number PB13X-8955, which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Chenani at Motorshed, NHW, Chenani.
During the search, 75 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the truck. Driver of the truck, identified as Malkeet Singh, son of Charan Singh, resident of H No 50, Chamba Kalan, District Taran Taran, Punjab, was arrested on the spot.
Police seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the truck and registered a case, FIR number 129/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act, in this connection at PS Chenani.
