JAMMU, Jan 20: Over 71,000 applications are pending for disposal under J&K State Lands (Vesting of Ownership to the Occupants) Act, 2001.
This was informed by Minister for Revenue Abdul Rehman Veeri in a written reply to the question of Congress MLA Aijaz Ahmad Khan in the Legislative Assembly today.
A total of 2,53,432 applications were received under J&K State Lands (Vesting of Ownership to the Occupants) Act, 2001 commonly known as Roshni Scheme. Of this, 1,29,144 applications were rejected by the competent authorities.
“A total of 71,831 applications are pending for disposal”, the Minister said, adding “the reasons behind the pendency are incomplete applications, pendency of forest clearance and non-deposit of the cost of the land by the applicants within the prescribed period”.
He informed the House that process of clearing the pending applications has been put on hold by the competent authority in view of the matter under consideration of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
However, nothing has been mentioned in the reply about the time-frame within which the matter will be disposed of by the Public Accounts Committee.
