7 youth from J&K clear IAS

JAMMU, May 31: Seven  candidates including a girl, from Jammu and Kashmir have cracked  the  Indian Administrative Services (IAS) exam,  the result of which was declared by the Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi  this afternoon.
Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat from Handwara in Kashmir, presently IFS officer in Lucknow   has  ranked 10th       in the IAS examination. He had also qualified KAS examination earlier.  After completion of his BVSc degree from SKUAST Jammu, Bilal was been trying for IAS since 2010 and this was his third attempt.
Zaffar Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal  and Zatoon Begum from Jarran Wali Gali, in Mendhar  Sub Division of Poonch attained rank 39.  Zaffar, a B Tech (Civil)  from  NIT Hamirpur (HP), is presently working as Assistant Engineer in PWD department in J&K.  He  did his schooling from local Govt School up to 5th standard and then joined JNV Surankote and studied there up to 12th.
Ayushi Sudan, daughter of Dr Harbans Lal Sudan (Retd) and Neeru Sharma (Govt teacher),  hailing from      Sunderbani and at presently at Ploura in Jammu has ranked 65 th in the list. She is MSc in Physics  and graduated from St Stephens  College,  Delhi. She is the product of KC Public School,  Jammu.
Mohnish Digra, son of  Dr Naseeb Chand Digra (GMC Jammu) and Sunita Digra, Lecturer   in Chemistry, hailing from Janipur Colony ( Main Stop), Jammu, has secured 776 rank. He is alumnus of KC Public School Jammu and Indira Gandhi Govt Dental College, Jammu.
Danish Agastam, son of Dr Chander Parkash, hailing from Ramnagar and at present Udhampur,  has secured 814 rank in Civil Services.  He is B. Tech from Punjab University Chandigarh. He did his Matric from Little Flower School and 12 th from KV- I Udhampur.
Inayat  Ali from village Sabjian in Darhal tehsil of district Rajouri has grabbed 886th rank while  Sahil, son of retired Naib Tehsildar -Gian Chand, hailing from  Gran Morh,  Reasi has secured 917th rank in the Civil Services exams.

Nandini K R, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service, has topped the prestigious civil services examination, the result of which was declared today by the UPSC.
She is at present undergoing training at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics in Faridabad.
Anmol Sher Singh Bedi is the topper among male candidates securing overall second rank. He is an engineering graduate in computer science from BITS, Pilani.
The top 25 candidates comprise 18 men and 7 women.
Nandini, who hails from Karnataka, said being an IAS officer was always her dream.
“It is like a dream come true. I always wanted to be an IAS officer,” she told PTI.
This was her fourth attempt.
She had cracked the 2014 civil services exam and was alloted the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise).
Nandini belongs to the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.
Holding a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree from the M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, her optional subject was Kannada literature.
A total of 1,099 candidates (846 men and 253 women), including 500 in General category, 347 belonging to Other Backward Class, 163 from Scheduled Caste and 89 from Scheduled Tribe, have been recommended for appointment to various Central Government services, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said.
They include 44 physically handicapped candidates (22 orthopedically handicapped; seven visually challenged and 15 hearing impaired).
There are 220 other candidates in the waiting list.
A total of 1,209 vacancies were notified by the Government, which were to be filled through the civil services examination 2016.
The civil services examination is conducted by the UPSC annually in three stages– preliminary, main and interview– to select candidates for the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
The civil services preliminary examination, 2016 was conducted on August 7, 2016.
As many as 11,35,943 candidates had applied for this examination, out of which 4,59,659 candidates actually appeared.
A total of 15,452 candidates qualified for the mains examination held in December, 2016.
Of these, 2,961 candidates qualified for the personality test or interview conducted in March-May.
Educational qualification-wise, the top 25 candidates comprise candidates belonging to engineering; sciences; economics and forestry background graduating from premier institutions of the country such as IITs, NIT, BITS Pilani, Delhi University, Anna University etc.
Optional subjects of the top 25 candidates in the examination ranged from Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology, Econo-mics, Electronic Engineering, Geography, History, Mathe-matics, Political Science and International Relations, Public Administration, Psychology and Kannada and Telugu Literature.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will felicitate toppers of the civil services examination, the results of which were announced today.
“We plan to felicitate the top 20 rank holders in a day or two,” Dr Singh said.
He said the programme is a continuation of the practice of interacting with the toppers ever since this Government came to power.
Dr Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), also congratulated Nandini K R, who has topped the examination.
“Congrats!! Nandini the first topper and others who have made it to UPSC civil services exams 2016,” he said in a tweet.
Dr Singh said in the past few years it had been noticed that it was invariably the female candidates who were the toppers of the exam.
“Also, the candidates from militancy affected states like Jammu and Kashmir are now regularly appearing among the top 25 candidates. This year too, Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat has got tenth rank.
“I have maintained this view consistently that youths of Kashmir wish to be a part of mainstream India and seek the enormous new avenues made available by the Modi Government. While it is a handful of vested interest that wants to keep the youths deprived of their interest and success,” he said.
