JAMMU, Sept 30: To promote the traditional folk culture of Jammu and Kashmir, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in coordination with Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Sangam Tru Art Production presented seven traditional cultural mega programmes at Durga Bhawan Jammu and Katra Navratra Cultural Festival.
The BLSKS today presented Dogri musical concert “Sari Virasat” at Panchvati Katra in its Friday Musical series.
The programme commenced with classical dance “Shiv Stuti Chann Oh Jija, Kaliya Kanvan, Haran which was produced and Directed by Dr ML Dogra former, Regional Director, Song and Drama Division Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and the music was assisted by MC Kotwal, Secretary, BLSKS and Raju Bajgal.
The cultural festival organized by the Navratra Festival Committee was inaugurated by Babila Rakwal, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi in presence of Joint Director Tourism Sunaina Mehta and Joint Director Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Gullam Abbas and SP Katra Amit Bhasin.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Joint Director, CBC Jammu Ghulam Abass, who gave a detailed overview of the functioning and working of CBC in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Babila Rakwal, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi lauded the role of CBC and BLSKS for underlining the importance of staging such plays in all parts of the UT in generating awareness among the masses about various social evils.
The singers, musicians, actors and students of Music and Computer Institute who performed were Usha Handoo, Raju Bajgal, MC Kotwal, Rajni Gupta, Sahil Gill, Sant Dass, Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi, Zulekha Farid, Chahat Chadha, Kamla Devi, Vijay Kumar, Priya Sharma, Bhawana Goswami, Tanvi Sharma and John.
The Senior Stage Decorator Durga Parkash presented vote of thanks.
