JAMMU, Feb 11: Police arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered contraband from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near Bus Stand and intercepted two persons, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 300 grams cannabis from the possession of the persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Dilawar, son of Mohammad Saleem Gujjar, a resident of Sidhra District Jammu.
Meanwhile, Banihal police during another action recovered 100 kilograms of fukki at Cholori Nallah Jawahar Tunnel from a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB02CC-7060.
Police team arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Gurdev Singh, son of Sham Singh, a resident of District Amritsar Punjab.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel SI Waseem Mehraj and SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Bukhari made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar and Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar.
In another similar incident, a team from Panjtirthi Police Post led by SI Vinod Kumar apprehended a person along with 300 grams of cannabis.
The arrested person has been identified as Arif Nabi, son of Ghulam Nabi of Kargil.
However, a team from Panjtirthi Police Post led by SI Vinod Kumar intercepted a Qualis and recovered 250 grams cannabis from the possession of four persons traveling in the vehicle and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Sanjay Kumar of District Jammu, Mukesh Kumar of Akhnoor, Anjum Ali of Mendhar District Poonch and Ashu of Satwari.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Banihal and Pacca Danga Police Stations and investigation started.
