JAMMU/RAMBAN, July 30: Janipur, Sangaldaan and Banihal Police arrested seven drug peddlers along with cannabis and poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO West Rahul Nagar and SP City Mohita Sharma laid a naka near Paloura and intercepted two pedestrians, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered around 25 grams of cannabis from these pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Anoop Singh and Arjun Singh, both residents of Paloura District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 85/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
Meanwhile, on specific information, a team from Police Post Sangaldaan laid a naka and intercepted two pedestrians, who were moving towards Sangaldaan under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 500 grams cannabis from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Majeed Bhat of Bandhan Sangaldaan and Angrez Singh, son of Suram Chand of Mainjel Sangaldaan.
However, the similar team during checking at Malik Morh intercepted a vehicle, which was going towards Sangaldaan.
During frisking, police team recovered 30 grams of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Altaf Hussian, son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Sumad District Ramban.
During preliminary questioning, the trio arrested persons confessed that they were illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Sangaldaan for sale among gullible youth.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post Sangaldaan Inspector Wasim Mehraj and PSI Arjun Choudhary made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Gool Inspector Muneer Ahmed, SDPO Gool Pardeep Kumar and SSP Ramban PD Nitya.
In another similar incident, a team from Police Station Banihal during routine checking at T Chowk intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03B-4449 which was on its way from Srinagar towards Punjab.
During the process of checking, police team recovered around 1.82 quintals of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Vishal Kumar (driver), son of Krishan Singh of Tosa Tehsil Balachor District Nawashar Punjab and Naib Singh, son of Mukhtiyar Singh of Ropar Punjab.
Both the accused during preliminary questioning confessed that they were illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Punjab.
The arrest has been made by SHO Banihal Nayeem Mattoo under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Ashish Gupta and SSP Ramban PD Nitya.
Cases under relevant Sections stands registered at Police Stations Gool and Banihal and investigation started.
