7 drug peddlers arrested across Jammu Province

JAMMU, May 8: Police across Udhampur, Samba, and Kathua districts have arrested 7 alleged drug peddlers, recovering significant quantities of heroin-like substance from their possession.
Police said in Udhampur district, two drug peddlers, identified as Mohammad Farooq of Bali and Swayam Sharma of Karan Nagar, were arrested with 13 and 2.43 grams of heroin.
They said the accused individuals were accordingly booked in cases FIR number 193/2026 and 194/2026 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Udhampur.
In another operation in the district, police apprehended two inter-district alleged drug peddlers at Battal Naka in Majalta area.
The accused were identified as Mohammad Mohsin of Bohri Kadal, Srinagar, and Mohammad Raqib of Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar.
Police said 10.65 grams and 10.29 grams of heroin were recovered from them respectively.
Accordingly, the accused individuals were booked in case FIR number 65/2026 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Majalta.
A scooty bearing registration number JK01AR-1038 used in the crime was also seized.
Meanwhile in Kathua, police arrested one alleged narco smuggler and seized approximately 22.54 grams of heroin-like substance at Link Road Shamshan Ghat area of Chadwal under Police Station Rajbagh.
The accused was identified as Muskeen of Marheen.
Police also seized a car bearing registration number JK08P-1912 used by the accused.
An FIR number 114/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Police Station Rajbagh.
In Samba district, police arrested two alleged drug peddlers during patrolling near Shiv Nagar Road, Vijaypur and recovered approximately 8 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.
The accused were identified as Mohinder Kumar of Vijaypur, and Udhayvir Singh of Katli, Samba.
Police also seized the motorcycle bearing registration number JK21H-7642 used by the accused.
An FIR number 80/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has also been registered against the accused at Police Station Vijaypur.
Police said investigation is underway in all cases to trace forward and backward linkages involved in drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
