274 fresh infections, tally crosses 33,000

Lockdown re-imposed in Baramulla

SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Kashmir today reported seven COVID-19 deaths taking the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 636 while Valley reported 274 fresh Novel Coronavirus cases taking the overall J&K infection tally past 33000.
Among the deaths three are from Kupwara, two from Budgam, as many from Pulwama and one from Bandipora.
A 70-year-old woman from Noorpora Tral in Pulwama district died early today at SMHS hospital in Srinagar 13 days after she was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with bilateral community acquired pneumonia.
A 65-year-old man from Lapora Kupwara was brought to SMHS hospital this morning and doctors declared him death on arrival. He was a COVID positive and was referred to the hospital from GMC Baramulla.
A 70-year-old woman from Lolab Kupwara who was admitted as a case of bilateral community acquired pneumonia, hypertension and ARDS died two weeks after she was admitted to the hospital.
A COVID-19 positive man from Kralpora Kupwara having underlining ailments died at the hospital in Srinagar today.
A woman from Khanda in district Budgam died three days after she was admitted to SKIMS hospital Soura and her swab sample tested positive for COVID-19 at the diagnostic laboratory of the hospital.
An 87-year-old man from Chadoora Budgam died today, nine days after he was admitted to SKIMS Soura.
A 45-year-old man from Pinglen in district Pulwama died five days after he was admitted to the Chest Diseases hospital in Srinagar.
With these deaths, the Jammu and Kashmir toll is 636 with 589 people from Kashmir.
Kashmir reported 274 fresh novel coronavirus cases today taking the overall Jammu and Kashmir infection tally past 33000.
Those who tested positive include 78 from Srinagar, Baramulla 9, Pulwama 15, Kulgam 11, Shopian 6, Anantnag 14, Budgam 27, Kupwara 13, Bandipora 65 and Ganderbal 25.
Srinagar has 8151 positive cases with 1353 active, 6601 recovered, 197 deaths; Baramulla has 2649 positive cases with 576 active, 1975 recovered, 98 deaths; Pulwama reported 2329 positive cases with 427 active cases, 1858 recovered, 44 deaths; Kulgam has 1850 positive cases with 248 active, 1571 recoveries, 31 deaths; Shopian has 1631 positive cases with 98 active, 1506 recovered, 27 deaths; Anantnag district has 2102 positive cases with 472 active, 1585 recovered, 45 deaths; Budgam has 2157 positive cases with 560 active, 1544 recovered, 53 deaths; Kupwara has 1839 positive cases with 561 active, 1236 recovered, 42 deaths; Bandipora has 1886 positive cases with 840 active Positive, 1022 recovered, 24 deaths and Ganderbal has 1207 positive cases with 581 active cases, 610 recoveries and 16 deaths.
Moreover, 278 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitalsfrom Kashmir.
And out of 33075 positive cases, 7246 are active, 25205 have recovered and 624 have died including 577 in Kashmir division.
The District Magistrate Baramulla today imposed lockdown in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district from 25th August to 29th August due to spike in COVID-19 cases.
An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla reads: “In view of spike in COVID-19 positive cases over past few days across the district, it has become imperative to re-impose some restrictions in terms of Section 144 CRPC and Section 34 of Disaster Management Act 2005, therefore there shall be restrictions in the district from 25 August”.
All shops, business establishments in the district including main towns of Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Kunzar, Tangmarg, Kreeri Wagoora, Watergam. Rohama and Dangiwacha shall remain closed.
There shall be complete restrictions on movement of public transport including Sumos. “Taveras. Auto-Rikhshas etc and only sick patients shall be allowed to move in designated routes. ARTO Baramulla shall ensure that no violation is allowed in this regard”, read the order.
The activities related to Agriculture. Horticulture and work on developmental projects shall continue as per the SOPs already notified. The movement of vehicles carrying fruit/vegetables may also be facilitated.
The Banks and Financial Institutes shall carry out only Government related works.
