7 buffaloes charred as Kulla catches fire

JAMMU, May 8:  The household items were damaged and seven buffaloes received serious burns as a `Kulla’  of the Gujjars caught fire at village Kullian in RS Pura today.
Reports said the mishap took place  at around 1.30 pm. The children of  Noor Din and Salim Mohd were inside besides some cattle/ buffaloes while they both had gone to the town. Suddenly one of the Kullas caught fire. The children raised alarm and the people from nearby area rushed there. They managed to rescue some animals unhurt while 7 buffaloes  received burn injuries.
The house hold items of the Gujjar family could not be saved by the people.  The Kulla had already razed to the ground when the Fire tender reached the spot. The police said that loss of property was being assessed. The injured buffaloes were provided treatment by the Veterinary team from R S Pura.  The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
It may be recalled that standing wheat crop on nearly 200 kanals of land was burnt in R S Pura area on Wednesday. Some bundles of wheat had been stored in the field by the farmers and they were also burnt in the fire incident. The cause of fire was not known.
