6th Battalion CRPF celebrates 57th Raising Day

JAMMU, Mar 18: 6th Battalion of Central Reserve  Police Force (CRPF) celebrated 57th Raising Day at Yog Ashram, Katra.
On the occasion, Commandant Sunil Kumar unfurled the national flag and took the salute. Two minutes silence was observed to pay tributes to the five jawans of 33rd battalion CRPF, who died in a fidayeen attack at Srinagar.
Addressing the jawans, Commandant Sunil Kumar disclosed that this battalion was raised on March 17, 1957 at Nimich, Madhya Pradesh and Colonel KS Rawat was the first trainer officer who provided training to the jawans of this battalion.
He directed officers of all ranks and jawans to render their duties with utmost honesty and remain very alert in all circumstances.
On the occasion, a volleyball competition was played, in which CRPF jawans took part. Prizes were distributed among the players of winner-up team.
Later, in the evening, a get-together function was celebrated along with officers, jawans and their families.
Orphan students of Disha School, jawans and local artists presented cultural, folk dances and songs of different States and danced in Bollywood style. Cash rewards were given to number of performers to boost their morale.
