65 days lowest two COVID deaths in Jammu region, 2 die in Valley

* 346 test +ve in Kashmir,  175 in Jammu

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, June 19: Four persons died of COVID-19 and 521 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today. Two casualties each were reported in Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
This was after 65 days that Jammu region recorded just two COVID deaths.
A 60-year-old woman from Bishnah in Jammu district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu while 75-year-old man hailing from Thannamandi in Rajouri district succumbed to the virus in the GMC Rajouri.
Among 175 persons, who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region, 39 were found infected in Doda district, 26 in Jammu, 22 Poonch, 18 Udhampur, 17 Rajouri, 16 Kathua, 14 Samba, 12 Kishtwar and five each in Ramban and Reasi districts.
As against 175 new cases, 359 recovered from the virus today, the highest 104 in Jammu district, 96 in Doda, 39 Samba, 31 Udhampur, 30 Rajouri, 28 Ramban, 11 Reasi and 10 each in Kathua and Kishtwar districts.
Jammu region’s Corona cases now stood at 1,18,155. Of them, 3357 are active positives while 1,12,734 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2064 casualties.
Maximum 1120 COVID fatalities have been reported in Jammu district followed by 213 in Rajouri, 149 Kathua, 131 Udhampur, 118 Samba, 104 Doda, 87 Poonch, 60 Ramban, 42 Reasi and 40 in Kishtwar district.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 26 new COVID positive cases including 18 in Leh and eight in Kargil district.
However, no Corona casualty was reported in Ladakh today.
New cases have taken Corona count in Ladakh to 19730 including 433 active positives and 19097 recoveries.
There have been 200 COVID deaths in Ladakh—143 in Leh and 57 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 346 fresh COVID-19 cases and two persons succumbed to injuries.
Srinagar reported 117 cases, Baramulla 20, Budgam 44, Pulwama 33, Kupwara 24, Anantnag 49, Bandipora 22, Ganderbal 16, Kulgam 18 and Shopian 3.
As per officials figures, 69,012 positive cases including 816 deaths and 66,682 recoveries are from Srinagar, 22,973 including 276 deaths and 21,948 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,226 including 21,282 recoveries and 200 deaths are from Budgam, 14,657 including 13,525 recoveries and 186 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,526 including 158 deaths and 12,752 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,766 including 15,052 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,130 cases including 8,725 and 98 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,397 including 9,081 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,838 including 10,373 recoveries and 111 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,529 including 5,403 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 193,054 including 184,823 recoveries and 2,174 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 9,414 including 6,057 from Kashmir division.
With 1,197 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 297,557, which is 95.61 percent of the total cases.
And as the weekend lockdown continued in Kashmir, police in Anantnag has asked picnickers not to visit Pahalgam.
Large numbers of people were visiting the tourist place against the SOPs of the COVID-19 and Police has advised people to avoid the visit.
“Weekend lockdown remains in force in Anantnag district which includes Pahalgam. Day picnickers are advised not to visit Pahalgam. Police checkposts will turn them back and be a cause of great incovenience. Avoid visiting Pahalgam on weekends”, police said.
