JAMMU, Aug 7: A joint team of officers from J&K State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) Divisional Office Jammu (South) and Samba (North) today carried out an extensive anti-polythene drive at Narwal Fruit Mandi, Trikuta Nagar, Ware House and adjoining areas.
During the raids over 62 kg banned polythene material was seized. The offenders were compounded on the spot and strict instructions were issued to them to desist from the illegal storage and sale of the banned polythene material.
The drive was conducted under the direct supervision of Regional Director SPCB Jammu, Ms Shally Ranjan.
Other team members were Bader Hussain DO Jammu (South), Deepak Abrol DO Samba (North), Anupam Kaul, Surinder Tripathi, Arshad Malik, Chander Kotwal, Dimple Sharma, Naveed Chowdhary, Pankaj Chadha and Vikram Gupta.
On this occasion the Regional Director said that more such drives shall be conducted in future to make the City of Temples a polythene free zone.
The Regional Director also appealed to the traders, shopkeepers, hawkers etc to avoid storage and sale of banned polythene materials.
The Board appealed to the citizens of Jammu not to use the banned polythene material and also discourage the use of polythene and plastic materials in day to day life.
