62 bovines rescued, 5 smugglers arrested

RAJOURI, May 22: The police foiled two major bovine smugglings attempts in Thanamandi and Kalakote area of Rajouri today and arrested five smugglers. A total 62 cattle being smuggled to Kashmir were seized.
Official sources said that a police team led by SHO Thanamandi, Javed Malik under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Mohammad Siddique during routine patrolling on Thanamandi-DKG road, intercepted smugglers carrying bovines on foot. Four smugglers were arrested on the spot and 60 animals were rescued from them.
The arrested smugglers were identified as Latief Hussain, son of Mohammad Hussain from Kalakote;  Munir Hussain, son of Fateh Mohammad, resident of Tarkassi Bakori;  Jamal Din, son of  Abdul Majeed, resident of Kalakote and Pervaiz Ahmed, son of Abdul Gafoor, a resident of  Kanthol in Kotranka.
Two cases under FIR No. 83/2019 and 84/2019 were registered at Thanamandi Police Station in this connection.
Another team of police headed by SHO Kalakote, Tahir Khan rescued two bovine animals from a  vehicle JK11B /7103 on Kalakote- Rajouri road early today.
The vehicle was seized on the spot and case FIR No. 45/2019 under sections 188  RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered against Mohammad Basharat, son of Mohammad Azam, resident of Thalka, Nowshera, who has also been arrested.
