UDHAMPUR, Feb 21: The police recovered over 61Kg 760 grams of contraband substance(poppy straw) from three narcotic smugglers at Motorshed Naka, near Chenani on Jammu-Udhampur- Srinagar National Highway.
Giving details Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur said that Police party from Chenani led by Insp Paramjeet Singh, SHO Chenani under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur laid a naka at Motorshed, NHW, Chenani for frequent checking of vehicles.
During checking, police party intercepted one truck bearing registration No. HR 61C 4719 and one Maruti Zen car bearing registration No. DL2CAA/ 4102 for checking. During checking of said vehicles, 61kg 760 grms of poppy straw was recovered from both the vehicles.
The accused persons namely- Devinder Masih, son of Prem Masih from Gurdaspur, Abdul Arhad , son of Abdul Aziz from Budgam and Sajjad Ahmed, son of Ali Mohd from Budgam were arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, two cases FIR No. 23/2020 U/S 8/15 and 24/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS stands registered at Police Station, Chenani and further investigation of the case was in progress.
