UDHAMPUR, Aug 10: Continuing its drive against narcotics and psychotropic substances, Udhampur Police today seized 60 kg poppy straw and arrested the accused smugglers.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a truck, bearing registration number PB07AS- 1813, which was intercepted at Jakhani Naka, National Highway, by a Police team, led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Vijay Choudhary.
Police seized the poppy straw and arrested the truck driver, identified as Gurvinder Singh son of Daljeet Singh of Phagwara, District Hoshiarpur and his associate Charanjeet Singh, son of Harpreet Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
Police also seized the truck and registered a case FIR number 433/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur.
