JAMMU, Mar 29: The police seized 60 bags of cement smuggled from Rural Development Department store in Marh block late this evening and arrested one person in this connection.
Official sources said that acting on a specific information, a police party from Pouni Chak Police Post, under Domana Police jurisdiction, intercepted the truck No. JK02U/2969 near Ranjitpur (Gulami Chak) , carrying cement and seized the bags along with vehicle. The driver failed to provide any valid challan or documents related the cement supply. The police arrested its driver- Sham Lal, son of Sain Dass, resident of Ranjitpur and placed him under sustained questioning. One Gurnam Singh, mate, was also later detained.
SHO Domana, Rajeshwar Singh when contacted said that 60 bags of cement bags belonging to BDO block Marh have been seized and driver, namely Sham Lal of Ranjitpur area has been arrested. He said a case FIR No. 121/ 2019 has been registered in this connection. The police was trying to establish contact with BDO, Marh Chander Kant Bhagat, the police said.
