NEW DELHI: The seventh phase of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh today witnessed 60.03 per cent voter turnout, while the second phase in Manipur saw a record voter turnout of 86 per cent, based on 75 per cent of total polling stations.
Addressing a joint press conference here, Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Dev and Director General Sudeep Jain said these figures were based on reports received till 1700 hrs and 1600 hrs, respectively.
Mr Dev said there would be a marginal increase in the final figure for the last phase as people were standing in queues to cast their votes. “Like the sixth phase, polling in the seventh and last phase of Uttar Pradesh was also peaceful,” Mr Dev said. (AGENCIES)
