6 OGWs sent to jail for 15 days

JAMMU, Feb 22: In the much publicized Ban Toll Plaza terrorist attack case, Special Judge NIA Court Subash C Gupta today granted 15 days judicial remand of six Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
They are Sameer Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar, Asif Ahmed Malik, son of Bashir Ahmed Malik, Sartaj Ahmed Mantoo, son of Firdous Ahmed Mantoo, Zahoor Ahmed Khan, son of Ghulam Hassan Khan and Suhaib Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmed Wani, all the residents of Pulwama and Suheel Javid alias Sohail Lone, son of Javid Moqbool Lone of Budgam.
The order has been passed in an application filed by Rakesh Balwal- CIO, NIA, Jammu seeking shifting of these accused from police custody to judicial custody for 30 days on remand.
On perusal of the CD file, the Special Judge observed, “keeping in view the facts and the circumstances of the case, gravity and heinousness of the crime, submissions made by the CIO of the NIA and the stage of the investigation of the case, the court is of the considered opinion that remanding the accused to judicial custody is imperative for completion of the ongoing investigation”.
Accordingly, the prayer made by the NIA was allowed and 15 days judicial custody was granted.
