6 NC workers hurt in clash

MENDHAR, Mar 24:  At least half a dozen National Conference workers were injured in a clash during election meetings being held in support of coalition candidate, Madan Lal Sharma in Mendhar today.
Reports said that Vice Chairman of Legislative Council Javed Rana (MLC) and another NC leader, Showkat Choudhary, president Sarpanch Association Mendhar had organised two separate public meetings at Salwah in Mendhar. The supporters of  Javed Rana with drum beaters reached at the site where other group led by Showkat was holding meeting. Supporters  of Showkat objected to the nuisance being created by other group workers. This led to a verbal spat between the members of both the groups.
It was followed by bloody clash. Both the sides started stone pelting and also used lathis. The law and order situation was created. SHO Mendhar Bishnesh Kumar and SDPO Surinder Choudhary rushed there. They controlled the situation. Two injured were admitted to   SDH Mendhar. They included Post Office employee  Wazir Khan and  Mohd Razak, ex-serviceman. The police has taken cognizance of the matter. Counter FIRs have been lodged in this connection.
