6 drug peddlers arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 24: Police today arrested six drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Pulwama, Awantipora and Budgam, recovering charas, ganja and heroin from their possession.
In Anantnag, a police team from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended two individuals at a checkpoint set up at Dara Shikwa Crossing.
The accused were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat of Astanpora Veeri and Mohd Younis Sofi of Guree Kanderpora.
Police said 2.071 kilograms of charas powder-like substance was recovered during their search.
In another operation in the district, a naka party at Arwani underbridge near Fruit Mandi Jablipora arrested Sajad Ahmad Wagay of Guree Kanderpora, recovering 1.041 kilograms of charas from his possession.
In Pulwama, police intercepted a suspect during checking at Tengpona Road near Women’s Degree College.
The accused, identified as Mohd Arif Malik of Malikpora Pulwama, was found carrying 771 grams of ganja-like substance concealed in a nylon bag.
Meanwhile, in Awantipora, a police team during naka checking at Khrew apprehended Shahid Bashir of Seer Colony Khrew.
Police recovered 1.115 kilograms of charas powder-like substance from him.
In a similar operation in Budgam, a police team from Police Post Soibugh apprehended a suspected drug peddler during naka checking at village Harran.
The accused, identified as Younis Nazir Ganiee of Harran, Budgam, attempted to flee but was apprehended.
During the search, heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations.
