JAMMU, Nov 12: A six-day workshop on short-story was today inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture, Science and Technology at K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
This workshop is being organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. Besides VC SKUAST-J, Prof Pradeep Sharma; Prof Lalit Magotra, Convener Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi; Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also in the presidium.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that the creative writer and an intellectual portraits the happenings in the society making the creation more interesting and attractive symbolizing the odds and eves with a guideline. He also advised the participating students to develop the habit of reading classic literature of the respective times.
Prof Lalit Magotra, Convener Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and the Director of the workshop, highlighted aims and objectives of this workshop, which is first of its kind. He also clarified that this workshop is not restricted to one language only and the students selected for the event represent Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Sanskrit and other regional languages as well.
The resource persons, invited for this workshop, include – Chattarpal, Prof Lalit Magotra, Khalid Hussain, Dr Om Gosw-ami, Khalid Hussain, Surinder Neer, Yogita Yadav, Baljeet Singh Raina, Neeru Sharma, Nirmal Vikram, Dr Pratyush Guleri, Krishna Sharma and M K Wakar.
Dr Aziz Hajini, while delivering his welcome address, said this is for the first time that such short-story workshop is being organized in a planned manner as a joint venture of JKAACL and Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
Those who participated in this workshop, included – Radha Rani, Sonika Jasrotia, Ashu Sharma, Ravneet Kour, Amandeep Kour, Harsimran Kour, Parteek Sharma, Kamal Saini, Sharda Devi, Ritika, Khushi Wazir, Lakesh Kishore, Shivani Anand, Kamakshi Vaid, Mehak Devi, Rohini Raina, Arti Devi, Farhana Farooq, Himani Bali, Rukhsana, Priyanka Dogra, Sunil Mangotra, Kishore Kumar, Subhat Sarwar Khan, Abdul Qayoom, Saroj Bala and Savita Puri.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn delivered vote of thanks. Yash Paul Nirmal conducted proceedings of the programme whereas Ashok Gupta was overall Incharge of the programme.
