6.17 lakh yatris perform darshan

JAMMU, July 31: With just two days left for culmination of 39 days annual Amarnath ji pilgrimage in South Kashmir Himalayas, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) today said 6,17,664 pilgrims have performed darshan of holy Ice Lingam of Lord Shiva on 37th days of yatra.
SASB Camp Director, Amarnath cave shrine, BD Mengi updated the figures today saying a total of 6,17,664 yatris have performed darshan of Lord Shiva’s holy Ice Lingam till this evening.
He said 1460 yatris performed darshan today.
Meanwhile, Chhari Mubarak led by Mahant Depender Giri of Dashnami Akhara along with Sadhus and other people reached Sheshnag this evening.
After a night halt at Sheshnag, the Holy Mace of Lord Shiva would reach Panjtarni tomorrow and finally the holy cave on August 2, the last day of pilgrimage on the occasion of Sharavan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
Meanwhile, the last batch of pilgrims today left for Amarnath shrine from Yatri Niwas, Jammu this morning.
Amid tight security, the pilgrims comprising 73 men, 11 women, one child and 41 Sadhus left in a cavalcade of five vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp at around 4.30 am for Amarnath ji shrine.
A fresh batch of 355 pilgrims left from Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal base camps this morning to holy cave shrine.
A yatra official said 265 pilgrims left Baltal base camp this morning for the cave shrine.
He said 90 yatris, including women, children and Sadhus, left Nunwan Pahalgam for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
