Sir,
This esteemed paper has so many times very strongly and logically voiced the un-employment problems of youth of J&K State and even our State Government was convinced that extension in employment age from 58 onwards, is counter productive and against youth but despite all this, it is clear talk of street that the renewed proposal of government to reconsider this is only to woo the voters in the coming elections.
Sorry, we people of J&K, particularly the unemployed youths do not expect this cheap politics from our government headed by our dynamic chief minister, at the cost of the unemployed youths. We must appreciate that it is the strict discipline, character and achievements of Government which matter and not the corrupt practices. So 58 is OK because, after all the unemployed youths are the children of these elderly employees and latter must pave way for their unemployed children to get the jobs, otherwise if there is culture of extension in service or reemployment, how the unemployed youths shall be absorbed and naturally they shall become over aged and shall be deprived of getting Government jobs and shall become burden on the society.
It is like one person, who is for example an engineer or lecturer for the last twenty years, having salary of rupees fifty thousand monthly, has earned salary of rupees 1.20 crore, and government is considering to give them further ten/twelve lakhs by extending the retirement age, whereas unemployed youth is starving and being discouraged to leave the J&K state for earning livelihood either by going abroad or even to loose all hopes of leading a normal life. So, if our elderly employees can do a favour to we un-employed-educated youth, let by a review, the present retirement age 58 years be reduced to 55 years to give a fair chance to new generation, and if it is not logical, then let it be as it is i.e. 58 only.
Yours etc….
