544 JEs promoted to remove stagnation

Srinagar, June 14: Government today said in order to remove stagnation sanction was accorded to upgradation of 544 posts of Junior Engineers Grade-1 into Assistant Engineers by corresponding reduction of equal number of posts of Junior Engineer Grade-1.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Rajesh Gupta in Lower House, Minister incharge stated that in order to discuss the demands of diploma holders with regard to their career progression a meeting was taken by then Administrative Secretary, GAD.
“It was decided that Principal Secretary, PHE, I&FC Department will pilot a note for the establishment–cum-selection committee”, the Minister stated, adding that accordingly on the basis of Cabinet decision sanction was accorded to the conversion of 544 posts of Junior Engineers Grade-I (Civil/ Mech. / Electric) into Assistant Engineers by corresponding reduction of equal number of posts of Junior Engineer Grade-I.
These posts were ordered to be filled up by existing JE Grade-I after reduction of equal number of posts in the respective cadres, the Minister stated.  Moreover, 272 posts of Assistant Engineers were allocated to R&B/ Mechanical Department, added the Minister.
