The decision of the Central Government to open an Ayurvedic College at Akhnoor is more than welcome. The landmark decision is going to give a boost to medical sector in the region. Not only that, the College will help in popularising ancient systems of medicine which for one reason or the other have gone out of fashion.
It was a long pending demand of the people of Jammu which had been given a deaf ear by the erstwhile Governments.
The College will also generate job opportunities for unemployed youth of the State, besides giving a filip to economic activities in Akhnoor town.
The State Government must ensure that all formalities with regard to its proper functioning are fullfilled at the earliest. Any hurdles in its functioning should be sorted out on time without any delays. It should become a model medical institute in the State.
