54 cattle rescued, 3 arrested

RAMBAN, Oct 21: Major bovines smuggling bids have been foiled by rescuing 54 cattle and arresting three persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace and intercepted three vehicles bearing registration numbers JK14B-8772, JK19-4414 and JK19-6453.
During checking, police rescued 54 bovine animals from the vehicles and seized them. Three persons identified as Azad Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ayoub of Chenani, Dev Raj, son of Amar Nath of Kehri District Udhmpur and Mohammad Aslam, son of Nazir Ahmed of Bati Maitra have been taken into custody.
On questioning, the accused revealed that they were trying to smuggle the bovine animals towards Kashmir without seeking permission from the concerned authorities.
Cases under FIR Numbers 170/18, 171/18 and 172/18 under section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
